I knew when I wrote the end of Scorching Secrets, that you all would absolutely hate it. In series, I like writing cliffhangers. It's an effective way to make you want to know more about the world...the characters, etc. I love cliffhangers when I read a book series because it has me grabbing for the next book immediately. I apologize to everyone who has been reading this series from the beginning, because I know how long the wait for the next book feels like!
I am working really hard to finish the first round of edits on book three. Something about the tone of the book wasn't working for me, so I've been rewriting certain sections. It's really bothering me. I keep reading these sections and am like:
The only bad thing is...I'm about to go on vacation, so I won't get to edit as much as I have been during that time. I'll keep my blog updated as I'm away and hopefully I can find time to edit.
This book is a little longer than the first two books in this series, so it's taking longer to edit anyway. I'm tweaking the ending of this book, so it flows a little better with the beginning of the fourth book. I'm planning to finish first round edits this week, so I can send it to a few people before my trip. I promise that I'm trying really hard to finish this book, so that no one dies of waiting. That would be a horrible way to go!
I'll start putting some teasers out soon, but don't expect any spoilers! I'm going to remain pretty secretive about this book until it comes out. Sorry!

GASP. So glad that Scorching Secrets is finally on iBooks. I read it ASAP and finished it without putting the book down. I LOVED IT. I love how it is funny, I love how it is happy, I love how it is sad. It was such an amazing book and you are such an amazing and talented writer. The ending... wow... as much as I hate, like really really hate it, I love it! I hate it because it makes me sad and upset but I love it as I do know that it happens for a reason and that reason most be big! It leaves so much anticipation for the next book. I cannot wait for it to come out. (: If there was one word to describe this book, I truly would be AMAZING! I hope you have fun on your vacations and I really hope that the next book comes out soon. (:

With each book I read, I image how the characters look in my mind and put myself as Ryanne...hehe. and i have to agree i hated this ending just like the ending with claire, but i loooovveeee the whole book. Now waiting for the next round of an "emotional rollercoaster" in the lives of Ryanne, emma,david,liam, and the hopefully colton... Keep up the great work kaitlyn! I have even gotten my friends hooked
ReplyDeleteWhat I really do not get is why Drawing can use his "power" inside the "holding cell" but no one else can! Or how did Natasha get to Tom or in the house for that matter. I would praise you like everybone else but would rather help you if this is your dream: too many gaps and unlinked scenes and interactions between characters. You leave them unexplained. Especially in your second book. It's like you are experimenting with your cliff hangers by throwing them in randomly throughout the story. The plot is good but your writing gets careless and aloof often.

ReplyDeleteI'm actually glad that you caught those. I explain all of that in the two upcoming novels. I intentionally left them unanswered, because I want people to think about this as the series evolves, so that when I do explain why, there's that "Oh, now I see!" or "I totally forgot about that; that makes sense" reaction to it.

DeleteI loved both books so far. I was really upset when Colton dies at the end but am hoping for some sort of miricule in book three.

DeleteAll I have to say is I am in love with this series. I've always loved paranormal romance novels and this book has everything that I want to read. I read your books on my Kindle Fire and one day I was looking around for a book that was free. When I first saw BlackMoon Beginnings and read the synopsis I was already hooked. I love the way your leaving cliff hangers, however, please and I mean PLEASE don't end the series with unanswered questions. Not trying to be rude, but I hate it when I have a good series and it ends with me asking so many questions! I'm not saying to lay out their lives but tell me whether they get the chance to actually live. I'm reading both books (BlackMoon Beginnings and Scorching Secrets) over and over while I'm waiting for the third book just to make sure I didn't miss any details. If by any chance can you tell us the book title of the third book?! I can't wait to see who Ryanne will end up being with and what powers she has yet to discover. Keep writing!

DeleteI'm glad that you like this series! I wouldn't worry too much about leaving anything unanswered. I already have the whole series written and I'm pretty sure I answer almost everything in these books. What I don't answer in the four books are going to be answered in the bonus POVs I reveal on the blog or in Claire's companion novel. Don't worry! :)
When do you think the third is coming out? Beginning of August is pretty vague so I have been checking everyday!!! Thanks for writing this series I keep rereading it!!!
