Teaser Tuesdayish Thing: Deleted Scene

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I'm not going to do any more fourth book teasers for a little while. I may put a small teaser on Facebook or Twitter randomly, but I'm not going to put any long teasers up for a few weeks. However, I will still do something on Tuesdays. 

I asked everyone on my Facebook page what they wanted for this week: a deleted scene or a bonus POV from Descending Darkness because I have both and I got a lot more votes for the short deleted scene. I will upload the Bonus POV next Tuesday for anyone who voted for that option.

Here is a deleted scene from Descending Darkness. If you haven't read the book yet, don't read the deleted scene! This scene was cut out from the book because I thought it was a little too much too soon. ;)

Hearing the door open, I prop myself up on my elbows and look toward the bathroom. I know that my mouth falls open and based on the slight smile on Colton’s face, my eyes are probably extremely wide.

I gasp and try to look away…but I’m human after all. Colton smirks and takes a couple steps toward me. I pushed myself up further the closer her gets. Biting my lip, I try to keep my eyes on his face, but it is extremely difficult.

Colton is walking toward me with nothing but a towel wrapped low around his waist. His hair is slicked back from his running his fingers through it. My eyes travel from his hair and down to his shoulders. Water is dripping from the end of his hair onto his broad shoulders. I follow the water droplets as they cascade down his bare muscular chest, dipping into the grooves between his abdominal muscles, before soaking into the edge of the already wet towel.

It feels like my heart is trying to beat out of my chest. I’m sure that he can hear it the closer he gets to me. Stopping at the edge of the bed, Colton reaches forward and grabs my hand, pulling me up. I let him move me. Standing in front of him, I tilt my head up, so I can look at him in the eyes. I try to ignore the fact that his very muscular bare chest is right in front of me. I really want to reach out and wipe away the water running down his skin. I place my right hand behind my back to keep from doing exactly that.

His fingers graze my forearm as he grabs onto the end of my hair and twirls it around his finger. I take another step toward him, not caring that if I go any further I’ll get wet. I tilt my head up again, waiting for him to look back at me. His eyes slowly travel up to my eyes as he starts leaning forward. Instead of waiting for him to come to me, I meet him halfway. Standing on my tiptoes, I press my lips to his.

I wrap my arms around his neck and press closer to him. Colton’s hands find their way into my hair. Deepening the kiss, he takes a step forward, pressing me back into the mattress. I run my fingers through his damp hair and he carefully keeps his weight off of me. I honestly don’t know how I refused him twice before. If I knew his kisses were going to be like this, I wouldn’t have waited so long. I wouldn’t have been able to.

He’s being too gentle with me and I want more. I need more. Tightening my grip around his neck, I pull him closer. Not expecting me to do that, Colton falls on top of me, and I immediately gasp when his body lands on mine. Hearing it, Colton pushes his weight off of me. “Ry,” he whispers inches from my face. My eyes land on the lips that were just on mine. I want him to kiss me again. Why did he stop?

I close my eyes when his breath hits my cheeks. This is new. This feels different…more intimate. I’ve never felt like this with anyone before. As if sensing that, Colton pushes himself up further so he’s propped above me no longer touching me. Opening my eyes, I meet his green ones.

Pushing even further away, Colton stares down at me for a couple of seconds without saying anything. “What?” I whisper to him when the silence starts to get to me.

“You’re scaring me Ry.” He rolls to the side and readjusts the towel around his waist. I sit up and wait for him to continue. I can tell that there is more to that statement. “All this stuff keeps happening to you and it freaks me out every time you go into a vision or get pulled into the dream world.”

Colton keeps talking, but I feel my attention going elsewhere again. “Ry,” Colton waves a hand in front of my face, and tilts my chin up again so that I’m looking directly at him.

“I can’t concentrate with you like that,” I wave towards his bare chest. Even with his hand beneath my chin, my eyes follow a drop of water slowing sliding down his shoulder.

“What if I never see you again? I can’t live with that,” he whispers and the tone his voice draws me back. He’s really worried.

Something going to happen to you?

“No, Olive. I’m fine.” I look back at my soulmate, making sure to keep my eyes focused on his eyes and nothing else. “It’s scaring me too. I want nothing more than to be a normal teenage girl, doing normal teenage stuff, but I’m not. Anything could happen to me, but I’ve accepted that. I’ve told you this before. I need you promise that if something does happen to me, you won’t do anything drastic.”

“I can’t promise that.”

“You have to promise me that, Colton!” I demand as I stand up and glare at him, no longer needing to force my gaze. I need him to promise me.

Grabbing onto the towel to keep it in place, Colton stands up and moves towards me. He stands his ground, but doesn’t yell back. “Ryanne, I can’t lose you. I just can’t.”
