Five-ish Facts about Descending Darkness.

It's time for the five facts about Descending Darkness!

*Spoilers for those who haven't read Descending Darkness yet!!!* READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

1. I knew from the beginning that Ryanne was going to end up with Colton. Even though the first scene I wrote in this entire series was the scene in BlackMoon Beginnings where Ryanne first meets Liam, I knew that she wouldn't end up with him, but that he would be a very important person in her life. Like I mentioned in the book, Ryanne and Liam have a strong connection to each other. Ryanne is the first person in a long time that Liam has opened up to. I added a few discreet details into my Liam POV about his past. Ryanne was the first person not to judge him based on his looks, and that was one of the first things that drew him to her.

In Scorching Secrets, I wrote a scene where Ryanne was looking up at Liam and thinking about how she could be happy with him, but then Colton walks up the stairs and interrupts her thoughts. If you look at that scene now, it can be interpreted as slight foreshadowing. I know that some people may not think so, but I actually love Liam and Natalie. I know that I didn't get to build their relationship up much, but I think that they work better than Ryanne and Liam would have.

*Sorry to all you Ryanne and Liam fans!*

2. Like the other two books in this series, I had a few other titles for this book. At first it was Darkest Dawn because of the Dark Knight quote I have in the book. Around the beginning of June, I started to think about the other titles in this series and I just didn't like how it sounded after the first two. I narrowed it down between Waking Warriors (referring to Colton and Liam) and Descending Darkness. The few people that had read the book before I published helped me choose Descending Darkness for the title.

3. I love Ryanne and Bragden's relationship in this book. If you look at it from the physical aspect, I think it's hilarious. Bragden is huge. He's the largest mage in their group and Ryanne is the smallest. Bragden likes playing little tricks on Ryanne and likes that, though he's so much bigger than her, she retaliates. He's also very protective of her. I loved writing the scene where Ryanne and Bragden are training and he tells her to use her anger. He pushes her toward the realization that she is strong and she can do this if she would just believe it herself.

Not that kind of push.

4. I left a lot of openness to Claire's death in BlackMoon Beginnings. I wanted people to think about what actually could have happened to her. Claire has intuition and she's the only one to have actually read the prophecy, so she knew more about their situation than the others. I added Ryanne's nightmare scene in Scorching Secrets to show readers that Claire is still there. She's still watching and can still help at times. She's always had a big part in how everything plays out. Sneaky little Claire.

5. This is my favorite book in the series. It has the action, the romance, the comedy, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love all the books in this series. I wrote them after all, haha, but this one has a little of everything. I like how the beginning has a slightly sad/somber tone, but after the first few chapters it starts transitioning. The middle has all the cutesy and funny lovey stuff, before it starts getting serious and darker at the end. (I also really love the fourth book. It's my second favorite!)

6. <--Just because I can. I was a little worried about bringing James back into the series, but I didn't want him to just disappear. When I first started writing Descending Darkness, I knew that he would make another appearance in this book, but I didn't know what side he would be on. As I started to get further into the book, something just wasn't adding up. He just didn't seem like a bad guy to me, despite what he did in BlackMoon Beginnings to Ryanne. In BlackMoon Beginnings, I had a feeling that there was a more to him, but I didn't know about the "Cupid" part until I wrote that scene. I shocked myself, but I felt like everything started falling into place when I finally figured that out.

That's not the last surprise left for this series either. ;)

I hold all the power, haha.

7. <--Just because I can can. (For some reason, that sentence just made me laugh. *weirdo alert*) I really loved writing the scenes at the beginning of the book where Colton finally told Ryanne about soulmates and where he explain to her that he wanted to be stuck with her. Those where the scenes that my mom girly sighed at when she first read it :) I love girly sigh moments.

Technically, this should be the eighth fact, but I don't want to go overboard here. I'll just put it under the seventh fact. I'm cheatin' the counting system, just because I can can can. I drank a lot of caffeine this morning. I apologize. I love Incendia. I didn't plan on writing her in this series, but she demanded to be heard and I'm glad that she jumped into the last few chapters. She's probably one of my favorite characters. I really love her personality.

Anyway...that's all I have for right now. I may do another set of facts about this book, because I have a lot of things that I still want to say before the fourth book. Also, I'm planning on starting another POV soon. (I wrote that secret one, but I'm not going to release it until I get closer to publishing the fourth book.) I have a scene from BlackMoon Beginnings that's calling name, and I may try another Liam scene since a lot of people (including myself) love his character!

Have a great weekend! :)
