I love the 50s era. My roommate and I are not your typical college kids. We get excited when we have something planned on the weekend, because we're not just sitting in our dorm room the entire time. We live exciting lives, if you can't tell. We do get out! Don't worry about us. We're not hermits (yet). Anyway, we were talking about Singing in the Rain and I Love Lucy the other night and for the first time, I found another person my age that understands my love for old Hollywood.
The male actors specifically. Don't get me wrong. I love the actresses as well. Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Vivian Leigh, Claudette Colbert, Grace Kelly, etc were all very talented, beautiful woman. However, there's always been something about the actors from this era that just strikes my fancy. Take these guys for an example:

Humphrey Bogart, Gregory Peck (my favorite), Clark Gable, William Holden, Gary Cooper, etc. All very handsome, talented men. When I mention to some people that I love this time period (the 30s, 40s, and 50s), they always look at me like I've grown a second head and sprouted a bushy tail. I've always been told that I was born in the wrong era, but is it really that strange for a 19 year old to appreciate the classics?
Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, and It Happened One Night are all great movies. I don't think that enough of teenagers nowadays know of these movies. Now, it's all about which actor has the most defined six-pack (i.e. Channing Tatum or Ryan Gosling) and looks the best shirtless. Though those two men are attractive, I don't really think they hold a candle to the aforementioned guys.
For music: Frank Sinatra. No other details needed. It saddens me that many people do not listen to Frank Sinatra. He was one talented man. Like mentioned above, people give me the strangest looks when I start singing along to his song "Love and Marriage." It's such a catchy song.
Though older in this video, it still gives me chills to listen to. I wish that I could have gotten to see him perform live.
