Since we are getting closer to the holidays, many of us will have a lot of free time. I'm going to spend this free time catching up on all the books that have been pushed back due to my busy schedule. I can't wait to read The Ballad of Aramei by J. A. Redmerski, Incendiary by Amy A. Bartol, Independence by Shelly Crane, Avow by Chelsea Fine, and Elfin by Quinn Loftis. Some of these are already out. Some of these are going to come out this month. Either way, I'm super excited. :)
Because of this upcoming break, I thought I'd give some book recommendations occasionally. I'm a huge YA reader. I'll probably never grow up. Occasionally, I cross the line into New Adult, but something always brings me back to the YA genre. If you don't like YA, then don't read it, but you'll be missing out.
One of the first authors I'm going to spotlight is Shelly Crane. Shelly Crane is an amazing self-published author. I stumbled upon Shelly Crane when I got my first Kindle. I didn't have a lot of money, so I knew I couldn't spend a lot of money on books. I found Shelly Crane's book Significance in the Kindle Store one day and at the time it was only $0.99, so I bought it. Let me tell you, that was the best dollar I ever spent.
Now, I've read a lot of books, but something about Shelly Crane keeps drawing me back. When an author is able to create a world that keeps their readers wanting to come back for more, you know that there is something special about that person. I have reread her stories countless times and they still don't get old. She creates characters that are completely loveable and relate-able. I instantly fell in love with the characters in this series and know that anyone else who reads them will too.
“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.”
Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. She was smart
and on track but then her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's
graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her
for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about
hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.
Then she meets Caleb. She saves his life and instantly knows there's
something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her
way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks
ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their
future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is
she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is
a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never
knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike
anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to
survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a
father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's
imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their
abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be
forced to live without each other after just finding one another?
These books have a perfect combination of romance, humor, and action. You won't be disappointed when reading this series. If you're anything like me, you'll reread this series multiple times. The books will get better each time you read them. I had to wait for each individual book in this series to come out. So, if you're looking for a good book to read, I would definitely suggest these books. There's no waiting and the conclusion to the Significance series is coming out soon: December 18th! Excuse me while I do a little happy dance. Also, this series has been adapted for film! How exciting is that?
Let me conclude this post with this. I love self-published authors. Shelly Crane was one of the authors that inspired me to take a shot at it. I feel like self-published authors are more invested in their fans. I follow Shelly Crane on Facebook and Twitter and she's been nothing but loving and friendly towards her fans and followers. She's always replied to my comments and questions and for that she'll always be one of my favorite authors. She deserves every ounce of success she's been having and I can't wait to see what else this amazing author comes out with in the future.
