First off, I would like to thank everyone who has viewed my blog. I can see the amount of blog views I've received and I honestly can't believe how many people have looked at my blog. One of my favorite authors even followed me. *Happy dance* haha. But seriously guys, thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate it. You have no idea.
Also, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas (if you don't celebrate Christmas, read Happy Holidays right there) and spend lots of time with your loved ones.
Now onto my random thoughts for the night.
Do you ever wonder what if? There are so many what ifs in life that I think it is almost impossible not to think about all the other possible scenarios. Do you ever think about how different your life would be if you made just one different decision? Doing just one thing different could have set you off on a completely different path. Anything can set off a chain reaction.
I think that is why I like writing. I get to think about all the what ifs. What if my characters did this? What if she/he lived in this town instead of this one? What if my protagonist fell in love? What if she chose to settle for the wrong guy? What if a tornado came though the town and destroyed everything? What if...what if...what if. The possibilities are endless. Every action spurs a reaction. That reaction causes a whole new set of what ifs to occur. Writing one significant detail can change the whole course of a story. Also, because of these actions the reader gets to know more about the characters. How a character reacts to certain situations reveals a lot about them. I get to put my noggin to use and let my creative juices flow
You may be thinking, why the heck is Kaitlyn thinking about the what ifs? Well, I'll tell you. I'm just sitting here in the kitchen watching a movie. Can you guess what I'm watching. I'll give you time to think about your response.
*Jeopardy theme music*
If you guessed Santa Clause 3: Escape Clause you were right. I love watching the Tim Allen's Santa Clause movies during Christmas time. Granted, the first one is the best one, but once you start one, you just have to watch them all....Well, at least I do. Anyways, if you've seen this movie you probably know what brought on these thoughts.
If you haven't seen it [SPOILER ALERT]. Jack Frost tricks Santa into evoking the escape clause, hence the title, and both are sent back in time. This ultimately causes Jack Frost to become the new Santa. Basically, you see how different Scott Calvin's life would have been if he'd never put on the 'suit.'
Now yes, I realize that that is just a movie. But doesn't it make you think? What if?
I realize that I'm only 19 and really shouldn't be thinking about what ifs, but I often catch myself thinking about how different things could be. What if I was more outgoing in high school? What if I let people know how freaking crazy I really am? Most people in my school only knew me as the shy quiet tree-hugging over-achiever. If they didn't know me as that, I was the vegetarian from Alaska. Granted, I was that, but there's so much more to me. What if I pushed my cloudy insecurities aside and let the true me shine?
What if I never talked to that girl on the bus? What if I got put into a different art class? What if I didn't sign up for creative writing? What if I didn't care about my grades? What if I was taller? What if? It baffles me to think about how different my life could be if I did even one thing differently. Don't get me wrong, I love where I am in life right now. I'm so happy to be where I am, but I beg you to ask yourself this:
What if?
