Who is your Colton?

Thursday, August 29, 2013
First off, I'm out of my editing funk, so I will return to editing the fourth book this weekend. I had to step away from that novel for a little while, but I think I'm ready to go back to it now.

That pretty much describes me when I edit.

Secondly, I made a challenge on my Facebook page that once the page reaches 260 likes or Descending Darkness is rated 30 times on Amazon or Barnes and Noble, that I'll start posting teasers for the fourth book. If you want to start seeing teasers soon, the links are below :)

Facebook            Amazon            Barnes and Noble

Now onto the actual reason for this blog post. Since I've created a Pinterest board about the Prophesized Series, I've been thinking about that question.

Who is your Colton?

I kept having this dream about an unknown guy before I started writing. I'd see him in an ice cream shop. He was the manager or a pet store that I was suing. He was the a football player at college. This guy, who I'd never seen before, kept appearing in my dreams. He was always in the background, and I never heard him speak or really do anything, but something about this guy stuck with me. Because of that, I decided to make him one of my book characters. (That sounds weird, I know. I never claimed to be normal.)

I've found a picture of my perfect Colton, but I'm a little afraid to post it onto the board. I don't want everyone to bash my Colton, so I want to see who you all imagine as Colton. Do you have a specific model or actor that you visualize when reading this book? Who do you see as Colton?

If you have someone in mind, you should send me pictures! Facebook, twitter, email: all are great ways to contact me! I really want to see your pics. Once I receive a few, I'll make another blog showing the images and letting everyone see my picture of Colton.

(Also, if anyone can find someone for Ryanne--that would be greatly appreciated. I can't find a picture that has made me say Yes, that is Ryanne yet.)

I can't wait to see what you all send! Please send something so I don't have to delete this post later and pretend that I never wrote it, haha.

Have a great day and if I don't post anything else by then, have an awesome weekend!

My thoughts are a jumbled mess right now.

Sunday, August 25, 2013
I'm writing this blog post more for myself than anyone else. I'm looking at this entry as a public journal. I'm hoping that when I put my thoughts down, I'll be able to move on and get some editing done. I posted on my Facebook page that I was having difficulty editing the fourth book in this series and I'm writing this to explain why.

I need to give you all some background information. I started writing in June of 2012. BlackMoon Beginnings was the first book I every tried to write. It was the first time I ever even thought about writing novels and putting the crazy ideas in my mind on paper. Before that, I thought that being an author was some unobtainable profession that only those with insane amounts of talent could ever reach.

When I first started writing, I didn't think about publishing. I didn't think about letting others read my story. In fact, I didn't let anyone read my books for months afterwards. I'm a big supporter of indie authors and I've read a lot of blog posts where they stated that their first novel was horrible. I went into this writing process thinking that BlackMoon Beginnings was just going to be trial run. That once I had that book written, I'd be able to move forward and create better pieces that hopefully someone else would like to read one day. I never thought that anything would come from writing that book, but so much has. So many great things have happened because of that book.

It's been a year since Ryanne became real to me. It's been a year since Colton first made himself known. It's been a year since Liam first jumped down from that tree and gave his pendant away. One year. I was with these characters and the inside the mage world almost every day since June of 2012. I've spent the last year with these characters--these characters that now feel so real to me that every time I start editing the fourth book, I realize that sooner or later it has to end. Eventually during the editing process, I'm going to reach the words THE END on the last page of this manuscript. For some reason, that makes me really sad. In fact, I have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this post.

Though the entire book is written and I already know everything that's going to happen, the thought that this series is almost complete scares me. I'm not really why. Once I finish editing, that's it. I think that this is something that others writers can relate to more. Something inside me is terrified to finish editing this book, and I'm really not sure why. This will always be my first series. It'll be the series that I look back on years down the road.

These characters are my babies. These characters have been with me through the entire process. It's because of them that I even have people visiting this blog and potentially reading this post. It's because of them that so many great things have happened recently. I know that I wrote them, blah blah blah, but the Prophesized Series is their story. Though I've been working on other novels, a part of me knew that there was still the mage world for me to go back to. This is the world that you all want to know more about.

Yes, I still plan on writing Claire's story and maybe a series of short stories concluding everyone's storyline. Heck, I even have a small idea for a companion novel written in the past (like 1800s-1850s time frame) about mages, but none of those books are a continuation of this series. While this may not be the last time I see these characters, this'll be the last time I see them in this series. That probably doesn't make sense, but I don't know how else to explain it.

To this day, I don't call myself an author and I probably never will. I'm a writer. I don't think that'll ever change. I'm just a writer and not even that good of one, but it means so much to me that you guys have grabbed onto this series and fully embraced it. I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters, but I know that all good things must come to end. I'm hoping that everyone who read and enjoyed this series will continue to stick with me even when it is over. You guys have been amazing and I hope that I continue to write about characters that you'll love and want to know more about.

I'm still going to be sad as I continue to edit, but now that I've written all of that, I do feel like I can move forward and get this book ready for you guys to read in a few months. I hope it'll be worth the wait and though it may not seem like, I'm really excited for you to read it.

*I wrote this really fast, so I apologize if there's a lot of errors.*

Question and Announcement Time!

Thursday, August 22, 2013
Announcements:

I've gotten a few emails recently from readers who download from iTunes, Kobo, and Sony asking about when they'll be able to read Descending Darkness. I got news today that it was accepted into the Premium catalog and will be shipped to those retailers soon. It should be available there within the next few days. It took longer than I was anticipating and I'm very sorry for that. I know what to do differently for the fourth book so hopefully you'll all be able to get it the same day as everyone else!

Also, in between editing, I've started working on a few bonus POVs. I have an idea for one that I really like, but it's kind of mean, so I'm not going to give too many details for that. I need to make sure that I can actually write it before I say any more. I promised you all another POV once Descending Darkness came out--just know that I am working on one!

Questions:

As I've been editing the fourth book in this series, I've been thinking about a few things. It's not usually a good idea for me to over-think anything, so I thought that I would ask you all before I made any decisions.

1. I've been thinking about making some print versions of my book. I've had a few people ask about them before, but I didn't think it was right for that time. I'm just wondering if I were to create print versions, if anyone would be interested in a copy? I'd sign them and everything :) Let me know!

2. Also, swag. I want to create some swag pieces for this book series. I've been looking into making some bookmarks, but besides bookmarks, is there anything you'd be interested in? I'd give them away for free, so it can't be too expensive to make! (I am a poor college student after all.) Also, I'm not that creative...so bookmarks are all that I've come up with right now. Ideas would be helpful!

3. My next book after the Prophesized Series is going to be a mature YA contemporary novel. It's nothing like any of my other books though. Would it be totally absurd for me to include the Prologue for that book at the end of book four? Is that something you'd be interested in reading? If not, that's totally fine and I'll just release it at a different time.

P.S. I seriously love this contemporary novel. I think it's my favorite book I've ever written. I'm really nervous for you all to read it. Even if everyone hates it, I'm pretty proud of this book and I'm not even done writing it.

Look at all that adorableness. :)
4. Last question: Does it bother anyone that I use a lot of GIFs in my  blog posts? If it does, I'll stop using them so often and find something else to use.

I think that's all I have right now. I've been thinking of doing a few contests soon too, so keep an eye out for that. A prize for one of them may include an eARC of the fourth book ;) Just letting you know...

Thanks for reading this post and I hope to hear back from you all soon!

Book Four Information!

Tuesday, August 20, 2013
Okay, so I have a lot of things that I want to mention. First off, YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! I can't believe that so many of you bought, read, and finished Descending Darkness in such a short time. Thanks go out to everyone who has rated this book. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to leave a comment on my book and supporting me.

All of my books were ranked on Amazon yesterday! That may not seem like anything big, but it is to me! Seriously, you all are amazing. :D

Even though Descending Darkness just came out, I've already gotten a lot of emails about the fourth book in this series. So, I thought that I would givesome small details in this post.

1. I'm planning to have this book finished sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I really want to get this book out before 2013 is over. It all depends on my school schedule. I've already worked on it a little--mainly adding a few scenes, but I promise I'm working on it.

2. This book is the last book in the Prophesized Series. No more cliffhangers! This book has an official ending. There may still be a novella or a separate novel to finish up everyone's story lines, but that depends on whether or not you all want more or if you're tired of these books by then.

3. Since this is the last book, expect a big battle scene at the end. Expect people to die. Expect to probably be mad at me a few times. I'm not one of those writers that builds something up and leaves it hanging. If a battle is going to happen, it's highly unlikely that everyone will come out unscathed, so be prepared for that.

I think that's all I want to reveal right now. I promise to keep you all updated the farther I get into this series!

Have a great day! :)

College and Editing Update!

Saturday, August 17, 2013
Hello fellow earthlings and extra terrestrial beings that may be reading this message.

 image

I'm in a weird mood (hence the earthlings), so I apologize for that. I'm just writing this message to state a few things that I've been asked a lot recently.

I am only 19 years old, so I still go to school. I'm currently a college sophomore. I moved back into my college dorm today. I'm still getting everything situated and ready for my classes to start on the 19th. Because classes start on Monday, I won't be able to edit as fast as I have been this summer.

Now, I know that you all just scoffed at the fast in that sentence. That's okay. I know I was horrible at getting details out about Descending Darkness. I promise to be better with book four!

Because I can't edit as fast, I won't be able to get this book out in two months time. I wrote the last 60% of the book in a weeks time because my mom was threatening Christmas presents if I didn't finish it soon (she's mean like that, haha *just kidding mom!*). It needs a lot of work to be ready for publication. I am hoping to get the book out before 2013 is over though. Right now, I'm planning to have it published sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I'll keep you all updated with the progress of this book.

Though I'll be back at school, I will continue to regularly check my social media sites, blog, and email. If you comment or email me, I will try to get back to you in a timely manner. Depending on my schedule, I'm going to try and edit every night.

Oh, also, if you read Descending Darkness, could you please rate it? Ratings help writers a lot! Please and thank you!

I think that's all I wanted to address right now. If you have any other questions or comments, leave them below! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! :)

Amazon                    Barnes and Noble                   Smashwords

If you read it, please rate it! Ratings help authors a lot! I'm probably going to go back and edit again once I get back into the swing of things at school, so be aware of that.  Please and thank you!

Descending Darkness Release Date!

Monday, August 12, 2013
This post is going to be short and sweet. Everything has panned out now, so I can officially give you all a release date. (I know that everyone just muttered a finally.)

The release date for Descending Darkness, the third installment in the Prophesized Series, is...

*Drum roll please*

Friday, August 16th

I'm working on formatting right now, so everything should be ready by Friday! I'm moving back to college on Saturday and starting class again on Monday, so this is perfect timing :)

Sorry for the late notice! I can't wait for you all to read this book! I'm also sorry for making you wait so long. I hope it'll be worth it.

Descending Darkness Synopsis and Teaser

Tuesday, August 6, 2013
Happy Tuesday! (If it's not Tuesday when you read this, read the actual day in place of Tuesday.) I promised on my Facebook page that I would reveal the synopsis and another small teaser from Descending Darkness, so here they are:

Synopsis:

A magical prophecy, scorching secrets, and descending darkness.

Ryanne’s had enough. Though only eighteen, she has the pressure of an ancient prophecy and the weight of an entire magical race pressed upon her shoulders. Because of that, she’s been surrounded by fighting and death for months.

Watching Dravin plunge a dagger into Colton’s side, put everything into perspective for Ryanne She changed her vision, but in the end it didn’t matter. He still died and there was nothing she could do but watch.

With the help of her new family, Ryanne has escaped the compound and is now more determined than ever to stop Dravin. He has found a way to extract magic from mages and he wants her magic.

As he begins recruiting more Gadramicks, Ryanne sets out to find more mages and form alliances because a battle is coming. Starting with a large mage with a hidden secret, Ryanne searches for the answers and strength she needs to move forward.

As Dravin and Ryanne both become stronger, everyone is starting to realize that the end is coming. Mages are rising and Dravin’s the only one with a plan. With darkness lurking at every corner, Ryanne is the only one that can bring any illumination during this time if only she can accept her role in this prophecy.

Descending Darkness is the third installment in the four-part Prophesized Series.

Teaser:

“I was supposed to change this…it wasn’t supposed to happen this way.” I lean forward and rest my head on his chest again. He’s supposed to be here for me. He’s supposed to be yelling at me for doing something stupid or laughing at my poor attempt at humor. How could you leave me like this? I pound against his chest. “You weren’t supposed to leave me! You promised to wait for me!” I bunch my fingers in his shirt and cry harder. The fabric beneath me is soaked with my tears. Someone reaches behind me and starts rubbing my back. It isn’t reassuring at all. In fact, it makes me sadder. “You’re supposed to be here.”

Thoughts on the synopsis and teaser?

I know that I promised to have this book out by early August. I decided to go back and edit it one more time, so I'm going to have to push it back a little bit. It'll be done before the end of the month--that much I can promise. I'm trying to get it out before I go back to school on August 17th. I'm still waiting on a few things, which is why I went back and started editing again, so when I find that information out, I'll let you know of a date!

I know that was probably your reaction to the release date. I'm so sorry! Please don't hate me! *runs and hides* "I'm trying," she yells as she disappears around a corner.

Anyway, this book will be ready soon. I seriously apologize for my TOTAL lack of information regarding publication, but know that I am working and you will get it soon!

That's all I have for now. I hope you all have a fantastic day and thanks for visiting my blog and supporting me! :)
